Our Heartbeat: THe Auditorium in Action

Weekly Gatherings

Annual Class Plays

Weekly Gatherings

Weekly gatherings are a cornerstone of the Powhatan experience. Every Monday, our community comes together to share updates on school projects, sports, and classroom activities; celebrate student and teacher milestones; and look ahead to exciting events. It’s also a time to celebrate birthdays and provide students with valuable public speaking experience. These gatherings give older students a chance to lead by example, encouraging younger ones to face their fears, grow in confidence, and find their voice

Chapel Talks

Annual Class Plays

Weekly Gatherings

Much like TED Talks, Powhatan’s Chapel Talks are a cherished eighth-grade tradition and a true capstone of our students’ time here. Each student researches, prepares, and delivers a 7–10 minute presentation on a topic they are passionate about. Chapel Talks  are powerful moments of personal growth, leadership, and self-expression. This tradition not only celebrates the culmination of years of learning but also builds the confidence and communication skills that set our students apart as they prepare for high school and beyond.

Annual Class Plays

Annual Class Plays

Class plays are a critical and beloved part of our curriculum. Each year, every grade takes the stage to perform a play, giving students the opportunity to develop confidence, creativity, and collaboration. These performances allow students to explore storytelling, strengthen public speaking skills, and experience the joy of working together toward a shared goal. Class plays not only bring literature to life—they also help students find their voice and build lasting memories as a community.

Annual Class Plays

Our annual Shakespeare play is more than a performance—it's a cherished tradition that connects students to history, creativity, and each other. As they speak lines echoed by generations before them, students gain a sense of belonging and pride in continuing a legacy. Through rehearsals and collaboration, they build confidence, teamwork, and lasting bonds. It’s moments like these that shape not just academic growth, but character, community, and lifelong memories.
